Brighten the Corners is the fourth studio album released by Pavement. The title is likely a reference to Ella Fitzgerald's Brighten the Corner. All songs were written by lead singer Stephen Malkmus, apart from "Date with Ikea" and "Passat Dream".

Matador Records released an expanded 2CD edition of this album under the title Brighten the Corners: Nicene Creedence Edition on December 9, 2008.

Well schooled in the fuzzed-out guitars and ambient vocals of the shoegaze canon,Gliss brings a wall-of-sound approach to their dark pop compositions. In the two years since their more somber and mopey debut, Gliss is back with "Devotion Implosion." On the record, the Los Angeles triumvirate evoke the best elements of My Bloody Valentine and the Jesus and Mary Chain, displaying anthemic qualities that help navigate the droning, murky minefield that plagues many of their contemporaries.

Songs show a practiced versatility, as members Martin Klingman, David Reiss and Victoria Cecilia switch instruments between songs. "Morning Light," one of the record's stand-out tracks, could be a female-fronted outtake from Psychocandy. While the first single, "Anybody Inside," shows all the swagger and verve of Spacemen 3.

Youth & Young Manhood is the debut album from Kings of Leon, released in August 2003. The title appears to be taken from Ernest Hemingway's A Moveable Feast, his novel of poverty in 1920s Paris: "I had already seen the end of fall come through boyhood, youth and young manhood, and in one place you could write about it better than in another."

The album was generally well received, but polarized listeners and critics alike: Many appreciated the band's punk and garage rock-influenced revival of the southern rock genre with NME hailing the album among the "best debuts of the last 10 years."

"Molly's Chambers", "Wasted Time" and "California Waiting" were all released as singles."Spiral Staircase" featured on the PS3 game Motorstorm. "Red Morning Light" was also featured on a Ford Focus commercial, and as the opening song in FIFA 2004 by EA Sports.

The album was recorded between Sound City Studios, California (where Nirvana's Nevermind andFleetwood Mac's Rumours were made) and Shangri-La Studio in Malibu.

The band's popularity exploded in Australia during the weeks of the 22nd and 29th of September, 2008, when they had all 4 of their studio albums in the top 50, with Youth and Young Manhoodmaking its first top 50 chart appearance since its release in 2003, peaking at number 46. The album sold more than 240,000 copies worldwide.

Aha Shake Heartbreak is the second studio album by American rock band Kings of Leon. It was released in November 2004 in the UK and February 2005 in the US.

The album was met with critical acclaim and was widely appreciated among Kings of Leon fans. Notable songs include "Milk", an acoustic track accentuating Caleb Followill's vocals, "King of the Rodeo", which high-lights the twin guitar playing, and the Latin-style coda to the opening track "Slow Night, So Long". When speaking about the album, the band remarked "if Youth and Young Manhood was the party, Aha Shake Heartbreak is the hangover."

"The Bucket", "Four Kicks" and "King of the Rodeo" were released as singles in the UK.

The original version of the album featured a white background and an orchid, the second featured a black cover with a different kind of orchid. The second also contained the bonus track "Where Nobody Knows", and on both albums the flower is positioned in a suggestively sexual position.

The title of the album comes from the third track, "Taper Jean Girl".

There is also a photo, hidden underneath the white plastic of the second black cover, of the band as children.

I Sold Gold is the third album by Aqueduct. It was released January 25, 2005 on Barsuk Records. Two tracks, "Growing Up With GNR" and "Heart Design", released with I Sold Gold come from Aqueduct's first album, Power Ballads, which was released in 2003. The album has been described as the fusion of drum beat, synth pop, and piano which has led some to make comparisons with The Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, and Frank Black.

Slanted and Enchanted is the debut album by American indie rock band Pavement. The album regularly appears at the top of lists of most important albums of the 1990s^{[citation needed]}, despite relatively low record sales. The album was distributed to critics as early as 1991 before its original release and when the rest of Pavement joined the band, so when the album was released, the band had a bassist and Gary Young's drumming was so shaky that Bob Nastanovich kept time for him, as well as work as tour manager.^{[citation needed]}. In 2003, the album was ranked number 134 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

A two-disc expanded version of the album, Slanted and Enchanted: Luxe & Reduxe, was released in 2002. Along with the original 14 tracks, it includes an additional ten tracks from recording sessions on disc one, and disc two consists of the four-track Watery, Domestic EP, seven other songs from recording sessions, and 13 live tracks (from a show at the Brixton Academy in London on December 14, 1992).

The album's name is taken from the title of a cartoon made by Silver Jews frontman David Berman^{[citation needed]}. It is also an allusion to a line from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's famous poem Kubla Khan^{[citation needed]}.

As of 2007, the album has sold 150,000 copies.

Music videos were shot for the songs "Here" and "Perfume-V" but they were not in rotation on MTV and were later included on the Slow Century DVD.

We Started Nothing is the debut album from English band The Ting Tings. It was released by the Columbia Label Group (UK) on 19 May 2008 in the United Kingdom. Midnight Boom is the third album from The Kills, released on March 10, 2008 through Domino Records (March 17, 2008 in the United States). It was recorded in Benton Harbour, MI. "Midnight Boom" refers to the moment the moon comes up and everyone else goes to bed.

The album was preceded with a site, also titled Midnight Boom, dedicated to the videos and multi-tracks for "U.R.A. Fever", "Cheap And Cheerful", and "Last Day of Magic". Neon Bible

Neon Bible is the second album by Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire. It was released by Merge on March 5, 2007 in Europe and March 6, 2007 in North America. Originally announced on December 16, 2006 through the band's website, the majority of the album was recorded in a church that the band bought and renovated.

Neon Bible was Arcade Fire's highest debuting album on the Billboard 200 at number two. Being released within a month of similar releases by The Shins' Wincing the Night Away and Modest Mouse's We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, Neon Bible was cited as an example of the commercialization of indie. Critics offered the self-produced Neon Bible mostly favorable reviews. Publications like NME and IGN praised the album for its grandiose nature, while Rolling Stone and Uncut said that it resulted in a distant and overblown sound.

Arcade-Fire

Funeral is the debut full-length album by Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire, released on September 14, 2004 in North America by Merge Records and on February 28, 2005 in Europe by Rough Trade Records. It was given its title because several band members had recently lost members of their families: Régine Chassagne's grandmother died in June 2003, Win and William Butler's grandfather (swing musician Alvino Rey) in March 2004, and Richard Reed Parry's aunt in April 2004.
